About Dajipur Jungle Suffari

Dajipur Wildlife Sanctuary, now known as Radhanagari Dajipur Wildlife Sanctuary, located in Kolhapur district of Maharashtra, was declared as the first wildlife sanctuary in the state in 1958. Popularly known as the “Bison Sanctuary”, the main attraction of the sanctuary is the endangered Indian Bison or Gaur. A 2004 survey reported the population of these bisons to be around 610. How to reach Dajipur

Dajipur is a small village located in the Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra. It is a popular destination for adventure seekers and nature lovers, and is home to many beautiful waterfalls.  Reaching Dajipur can be done in a variety of ways. The nearest rail head is Kankavli on the Konkan railways. Kolhapur is the nearest railhead if travelling from Pune. By car, if travelling from Mumbai (which is about 490 km away from Dajipur), you need to take the NH17 and from Kankavli you need to take a deviation top reach Dajipur via Phonda ghats. If travelling from Pune, you need to take the NH4 and then the NH17, followed by the deviation to reach Dajipur.

About Panhala

 Panhala fort Built by the Shilahara dynasty of Kolhapur in the 12th Century, the fort passed into the hands of the Yadavas of Devgiri, the Bahamani, the Adilshahi, and subsequently the Marathas. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj spent many days in this fort which was under the dominance of the Marathas until the 17th and mid-18th centuries. The fort has witnessed many upheavals and battles and is located around 20 kilometers from Kolhapur. An interesting view from Panhala is of the pass that connects the rest of Maharashtra with its coastal areas. The fort can be visited during any season but what makes it more compelling, mysterious, and exciting is the fog and the dense greenery that sprouts up during the monsoon.

Panhala lies on the Sahyadri Mountain Range and is situated in the Kolhapur district of Maharashtra. It is about 22 km to the northwest of Kolhapur on the Kolhapur-Ratnagiri road and is at an altitude of 3177 feet above sea level.

How to reach Panhala

By Road - Panhala is at a distance of 416 km from Mumbai and about 200 km from Pune. There are regular state transport buses available from Mumbai and Pune to Panhala. Private buses also ply between the two cities and Panhala.
