Historical Background of Ratnagiri

Ratnagiri is a port city in the western coast of India with a long and vibrant history. It was under the control of the Bijapur rulers, later on, it was under the control of the Satara king and in 1818 it came under the British rule. Ratnagiri Fort was built during the period of Bijapur Rulers and later on this fort was strengthened by Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Thibwa, the last ruler of Burma, was held captive here in Thiba Palace.

Places to visit in and around Ratnagiri

1. Ratnagiri fort- It is 4 km from Ratnagiri Bus Stand. it is a major tourist attraction in Ratnagiri. 2. Bhatye Beach- it is just 2.5 km from Ratnagiri Bus Stand. It is the main beach attraction of Ratnagiri  3. Mandvi Beach- 2.00 km from Ratnagiri Bus Stand. unique feature of this beach is that it has black sand.  4. Thiba Palace- It is 2.00 km from Ratnagiri Bus Stand. Palace is situated on a small hill.5. Marine Aquarium and museum- It is located next to Mandavi beach. 6. Day-wise Itinerary:

Day 01: Arrival at-Ratnagiri

Departure to Ratnagiri from Mumbai/Pune. Mumbai to Ratnagiri distance is 350 km and Pune to  Ratnagiri dist is 329 km. Hence start the journey early in the morning and reach Ratnagiri by evening, Arrive at Ratnagiri check-in at Hotel. Evening free to explore the city on your own o/n halt.

Day 02: Ganpatipule

After B/F in the hotel go for Ratnagiri sightseeing. Places of tourist interest are Bhatye Beach, Kunkeshwar Beach, Ratnadurga Fort, Shri Devi Bhagwati Mandir, and Thiba Palace in the evening departure to Ganapatipule on arrival check in to the hotel o/n halt.

Day 03: Ganpatipule

In the morning visit, the beautiful beach of Ganapatipule and then go for darshan at Swayambhu Ganesh Mandir returned to Hotel and have Breakfast Visit Bhatye Beach and proceed to Pawas, take lunch at Pawas, and proceed to Purnagad, Kasheli, and Adivare.Evening return to Ganapatipule o/n halt.

Day 04: Guhagar

 After B/F Visit Sangameshwar, take lunch and go to Marleshwar. Evening arrival at Guhagar o/n halt.

 Day 05: Guhagar-Mumbai/Pune

 After B/F in the Hotel start the Return journey to Mumbai/Pune on arrival drop at the residence / Airport / Railway Station with memorable experiences of Gagangiri Tours & Travels.
