The lake, where one can see hundreds of flamingoes in winter, is a unique sight. Shivneri Fort which lies around 40 km away is famous as the birthplace of the Maratha ruler, Shivaji. One can also visit some of the many Buddhist Caves going back to the 3rd century in the area.
